Wondering how to add a personal touch and softness to the nursery? Here is an easy to do tutorial that requires little know-how but will soothe baby. You don't need to know how to sew to make it: it just takes a little time and love! You can easily match the colors to the rest of the bedroom decorations to create a trendy and harmonious decor.

To make it the mobile you will need:

  • 30 to 40 cm embroidery hoop
  • 1,5mm leather cord
  • Cotton ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Wooden building block (you can find this in a dollar store)
  • Wick (a little wider than the leather cord used)
  • Drill
  • Felt in colors (ocher, gray, rust, beige) or any other color that inspires you.
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks

1st step:

Drill holes in the building blocks using the drill and a suitable bit so that the leather cord can be passed through. Choose various shapes.

2rd step:

Make yourself a template for your feathers on a sheet of paper like in the example below. Transfer the template to the felt and draw all around. You will need two pieces of felt per feather. Make 5 feathers by alternating the colors and the template.

3rd step:

The assembly!

Take the embroidery hoop and divide it to pass the cotton ribbon. Tie it cross. It is the cotton tape that will allow the mobile to be installed on the ceiling.

Then tie 5 leather cords of about 40 cm around the ring. Secure the two parts of the hoop by tightening the screw securely.

Tie a knot in the leather cord 10 cm from the circle. Insert 1 or 2 blocks of wood of different dimensions then tie a knot.

Glue the 2 sides of a feather (right side out) to the end of each string using the glue gun.

Hang the mobile from the ceiling, making sure baby cannot reach it (safety first!)

And finally, let baby have sweet dreams.
